MAGISTRATE/HEARING/LEGAL

Although some patients enter willingly enroll in the program at recommendations given to them in the intake process, some patients may not be capable of making decisions of their own. This might lead to consideration to care for them under Florida’s Baker Act. In this case, on-site facilities for due-process spare the patient the trauma of transportation to an off-site environment to receive a hearing.

ASSESSMENT

Cases submitted to the Miami Center for Mental Health & Recovery Facility are screened to identify mental health and behavioral health concerns. Cases that meet the facility’s criteria are taken on and the person becomes a new patient. Cases which do not meet the criteria are deferred to other care.

INTAKE

Trained law-enforcement, in collaboration with
co-responders, or mobile-crisis after communicating with and de-escalating a mental-health case, transport the potential patient to the Miami Center for Mental Health & Recovery Facility.

LONG-TERM RESIDENTIAL

Patients entering long-term care are transitioning to the next step of their healing journey. During this period, they will have unfettered access to the custodial services that have been available to them during treatment but will also be encouraged to rejoin the outside community. Their long-term residence offers them stable housing until they are ready to move into outside housing.

CRISIS STABILIZATION

In Crisis Stabilization, the patient is monitored and administered the required care to identify individual risk and immediate health concerns. They receive treatment necessary to stabilize their condition so the process of healing can begin.

REFERRAL

Some deferred cases are transported to another facility or receive some of the required care at the Miami Center for Mental Health & Recovery Center. This can be in the form of review and referral, social services, or a safe place to rest and recover from the crisis.

SHORT-TERM RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT

Patients requiring sustained treatment will be assigned living arrangements within the facility where they will have access to on-site treatment
and custodial services necessary to their healing journey.

DISCHARGE PLAN/SUPPORT

Patients that have completed their treatment continue to be supported by facility through sustained access to custodial services. This vital access reduces risk of relapse and gives them clear access to avoid future crisis.
