SBLM transforms an existing facilities management and storage building into a modern Teaching and Research Center for Long Island University. The project converts an unconditioned warehouse into Biosafety Level-2 laboratories that comply with accreditation standards of the American Veterinary Medical Association while supporting multiple scientific disciplines.

The facility includes laboratories for anatomy, histology, microscopy, and specimen analysis. Specialized areas feature a necropsy laboratory with an overhead monorail transport system, dedicated chemical and specimen storage, and controlled environments for tissue processing. Each space is planned for safety, efficiency, and adaptability to evolving research programs.

A new critical mechanical system incorporates parallel (N+1) redundancy to maintain continuous operation in accordance with National Institute of Health guidelines. Health and safety provisions include PPE changing rooms, showers, boot wash stations, and designated areas for sterilization and waste management. Ensuring compliance, comfort, and operational reliability for all building users.
