South Bronx Early College Academy Charter School

This new 40,000 sf charter school accommodates 300 middle school students. SBLM worked with school administrators to develop a school program and prepared the basis of design which was utilized as a lease document in the agreement between the school and the developer. The school’s program components included dedicated STEAM classrooms, common area, media center, and multi-purpose room.

To encourage collaborative learning, communal gathering areas were designed adjacent to small breakout rooms with transparent walls. SBLM also established the design vision and corresponding budget for a rooftop garden and play area for which the school was able to secure a NYSED grant. Once the design direction was established, the developer retained SBLM to prepare the contract documents that adhered to their budget for the core and shell scope.
