
Architectural Job Captain

Description:
SBLM’s Long Island office is seeking an Architectural Job Captain to work on a wide range of project types, including but not limited to; commercial, education, and healthcare projects. This is a wonderful opportunity to gain experience and responsibility for all aspects of a project, from concept through construction administration. Candidates should be able to work in a cooperative environment, be creative, self-organized, articulate, and ambitious. Retail rollout experience a plus.
Job Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Assist, develop drawings and take on technically challenging issues with Project Manager.
Perform code and zoning analyses.
Organizes drawing set and oversees drafters in completing all submissions.
Produces drawings without requiring constant supervision.
Coordinates meetings with consultants as necessary to produce documents.
Organizes and leads site visits and surveys.
Takes initiative to complete work and is thorough and detail-oriented.
Conducts material research and meets with vendors as necessary to understand materials and products.
Red lines drawings and distributes to drafters.
Requirements:
2-4 years of experience working in an architectural office.
Generate construction drawing sets with supervision.
Experience with commercial or healthcare architecture
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office, and Excel required.
Ability to problem solve using creative design solutions.
Responsible for design and execution of a project through all phases of design and construction.
Supervised interaction with clients, consultants, building management and city agencies.
Attend site meetings and address questions and issues as they arise, prepare meeting minutes accordingly.
Supervise and mentor drafting team to aid in project execution.
Ability to multi-task and meet project deadlines.
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with other team members and individually.
Actively pursuing Architectural Licensure a plus.
Driver’s License and willingness to travel to project sites.
